The SereneLife SLPAC105W is a versatile portable / freestanding air conditioner designed for rooms up to ~300 sq ft. It supports three operation modes — cooling, dehumidifying (“dry”), and fan — making it useful not just for lowering temperature, but also for controlling humidity. It has a built-in rotary compressor, is relatively energy efficient, and comes with caster wheels for portability. It also includes a universal window mounting kit for venting.

You need enough BTUs to actually cool the target space efficiently; too low → poor cooling, too high → unnecessary energy waste.
More modes (e.g. dehumidify, fan) increase flexibility.
Compressor type, insulation of room, and how often it runs will affect electricity bills.
Important if you're using the unit in a bedroom or study — high noise can disturb sleep or work.
Even for a “portable” A/C, you need to vent hot air out via a window or other exhaust.
The quality and length of the exhaust hose, and how well the window kit fits, matter for performance and leakage.
Proper drainage, risk of leaks, and the reliability of the compressor.
Weight of the unit (is it feasible to move frequently?).
The SLPAC105W is rated for 10,000 BTU (ASHRAE), but its DOE cooling capacity is 5,500 BTU according to its manual. This means it's more suited to medium-sized rooms (the spec says up to ~300 sq ft). If you try to cool a very large room with it, performance (or efficiency) may suffer.
These factors represent the most critical aspects that will impact your satisfaction with this product.
I had bought a portable A/C a couple of years ago and loved it. It still works, but I wanted to get one with heat on it as well.
I love this product! Easy setup! I highly recommend drilling a hole in the floor. I was using a normal size mop bucket that will fill up in one day. I decided to drill the hole in the floor and extend the hose that way it'll drain where I want it to drain. Living in south Louisiana you never know the weather ...
