When you walk into a local retail store to look at TVs, it is hard to see the fine differences since they are all set “hot” and there is a lot of room light, reflections, and so on. Before buying this set, I spent hours researching the latest and greatest models from major brands, and I was surprised at how well the TCL QM7K series stands up against bigger names that cost significantly more. One website I found useful was RTINGS, but this is just one of many. RTINGS buys TVs and then tests them using professional calibration equipment.
We have owed a few similarly sized TV in recent years and so far we have been very impressed with this 55" TCL. What you get for the price is impressive. The picture quality is on par with OLED TVs and the refresh rate is excellent for watching sports. There is no ghosting or blur when there is action. You don't get quite the wide viewing angle that you get with an OLED but with typical seating nearby, it looks great.
