Measurement method — pinless (surface contact, non-destructive).
Depth & ranges — reads to ~3/4" (19 mm); measurement ranges: 0–53% for softwood, 0–35% for hardwood, and relative readings for wallboard/drywall/masonry.
Readout & alerts — 2" diagonal backlit LCD, 3-color LED bar (green/orange/red), data-hold and audible alarm; out-of-range and low-battery indicators.
Portability & power — lightweight handheld design; uses 9V battery (low-battery alert included).
Because the MMD7NP is pinless, it measures moisture by sensing dielectric changes beneath the surface — so you don’t leave small probe holes in finished surfaces. That makes it ideal for finished flooring, painted walls, furniture and visible trim where preserving the surface is important. For quick, non-destructive surveys it’s faster and cleaner than pin-type meters

Seems to work well.
Stopped working after a few months but it just needed to recalibrate. The troubleshooting on Amazon is useless. Just hold down “hold” until it says 101, when it changes to 102, let go and that should do it.
