Sound Output & Audio Quality: For a portable speaker, the power of the drivers (watts), frequency range, and sound tuning determine how rich and balanced the audio is, especially for music with bass, vocals, or varied instruments.
Durability (Waterproof / Dustproof / Drop Resistance): For outdoor, travel, or rough use (poolside, beach, hiking), protection against water, dust, and physical shock ensures longevity and reliability.
Battery Capacity & Power/Playtime: Since portability means no constant power supply, a large rechargeable battery that supports long playtime — and possibly power-bank function — is valuable for long sessions outdoors or travel.
Portability & Build Quality: Size, weight, materials, and design (ruggedness, handle/strap, weather resistance) affect how easy it is to transport, where you can use it, and how durable it will be under different conditions.
Connectivity and Versatility: Stable Bluetooth connection, compatibility with multiple devices, and possibly multi-speaker pairing give flexibility. Extra features (like device charging, stereo pairing, app support) enhance usability.
Use-Case Suitability: Depending on whether you use it for small rooms, travel, parties, outdoor events — different features matter more (e.g. bass/output for parties, durability for outdoors).
JBL Charge (depending on version) uses dual drivers and delivers robust stereo sound. For instance, spec sheets show output around 2 × 10 W RMS for a typical “Charge Essential / similar” model. Its frequency response (around 65 Hz – 20 kHz for some Charge models) suggests decent low-end (bass) and clear mid-high frequencies, giving balanced audio suitable for music, podcasts, or movies. For many users, this means JBL Charge can produce louder, fuller sound than small “mini” speakers — enough for small parties, outdoor gatherings, or room-filling audio — while still being portable.
These factors represent the most critical aspects that will impact your satisfaction with this product.
I dig deep base and this delivers. I ordered a Sony field three and this Charge 6 to compare them. The Sony came defective - it had a flashing yellow light and refused to accept charging. Eager to run my test, I then went to Best Buy and got an another Sony and it worked fine so I could compare the two.
Expensive, but worth every penny! Easy to attached thru bluetooth. I have used this speaker on Microsoft and apple products. (laptops). Sounds wonderful. battery lasts a long time. There is a scale light that shows a person when to recharge the battery and also it shows when the battery is charged to 100%. I have also used this on my samsung" tis. The bbl 6 is a masterpiece in quality and appearance.
