Sound Quality & Stereo Imaging: Driver configuration, amplifier power, and acoustic design influence how balanced the audio is (bass, mids, highs), how wide the soundstage feels, and how immersive the listening is.
Connectivity & Ecosystem Compatibility: Availability of Wi-Fi streaming, Bluetooth, AirPlay, support for streaming services, and ability to integrate in multi-room / home-theater setups increase flexibility.
Use–Case Suitability (Room Size, Purpose): Whether you use it in a small bedroom, living room, or for home theater affects whether the speaker’s power, dispersion, and features are sufficient.
Power & Convenience (Wired vs Portable): As a mains-powered speaker (not battery-based), it trades portability for consistent performance — ideal for stationary home use, but not for on-the-go or outdoor use.
Expandability & Additional Features: Options like stereo-pairing, line-in via adapter, voice control, room-tuning (EQ, acoustic calibration) enhance practicality across different audio sources and use-cases.
The Era 100 packs a woofer (mid-woofer) and two angled tweeters in a compact body. This driver arrangement—along with three Class-D amplifiers — helps it deliver a surprisingly full, balanced sound with clear highs, solid mids, and improved bass compared to earlier small Sonos speakers. Because the tweeters are angled left and right, the speaker creates a wider sound dispersion and more stereo-like sound from a single unit — good for music or movies, even from off-center listening positions.
These factors represent the most critical aspects that will impact your satisfaction with this product.
Great sounding speaker. We upgraded from some original Sonos Play speakers. While they were still doing a great job we wanted the benefit of stereo sound since a number of our speakers are the only speaker in the room. There's a noticeably better sound to these speakers than the original Play speakers. I do wish they had traditional buttons instead of the touch buttons, so you don't accidentally keep changing sound levels, etc. when you're moving the speaker.
Setup was both quick and easy! I just plugged it in and downloaded the Sonos app. Sonos connected to WiFi, Bluetooth, Spotify, Alexa. It was all seamless in the setup app. Sorry that others had troubles, but it worked great for me. Great sound quality for my kitchen, and the Alexa voice controls work splendidly.
