Interface / Protocol — whether the SSD uses NVMe over PCIe (and which generation), which determines the theoretical maximum bandwidth vs. older SATA-based drives.
Read/Write Speeds — sequential and random read/write rates impact performance in loading, transfer, and general responsiveness.
Form Factor & Physical Compatibility — M.2 size (e.g., 2280), single vs. double-sided chips, whether it fits in your laptop/desktop/console.
Thermal Management & Endurance — how the SSD handles heat under load, sustained transfer, heat dissipation, and long-term durability (e.g. TBW, warranty).
Cache & Firmware Features — presence of caching (e.g. SLC cache, Host Memory Buffer), support for features like TRIM, S.M.A.R.T., encryption — which impact real-world performance and longevity.
The interface and protocol define the theoretical data throughput ceiling. NVMe over PCIe Gen 4x4 — as used in the FX991 — provides significantly higher bandwidth compared to SATA SSDs. This difference translates directly into faster load times, quicker file transfers, and better performance especially for large data reads/writes or workloads involving many small files (e.g., OS boot, game loading).
These factors represent the most critical aspects that will impact your satisfaction with this product.
I am as tech savvy as the next person out all I need to know is is where to put it and if it works and does it have a lot of memory yes this does the only way this could be better is if it was a 8 tb lol this this thing is fast and awesome it’s easy to install no mess no fuss the performance is outstanding the fit is perfect and the heat has stayed pretty cool the fx991 m.2 sad 4tb is a lifesaver when it comes to memory in a ps5
I recently installed the Fikwot FX991 M.2 SSD 1TB NVMe SSD in my micro PC, and the performance has been nothing short of exceptional. The installation process was straightforward, and the drive fit perfectly in the compact setup.
